The Chicago White Sox added double injury to insult on Friday. Reliever John Brebbia and outfielder Luis Robert Jr. both suffered injuries that caused them to exit early from the South Siders' 2-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals.

John Brebbia

Brebbia's injury came in the sixth inning after he relieved starter Erick Fedde. After entering with two runners on and no outs, the right-hander recorded two outs, the latter of which caused the flare-up.

Brebbia, who dealt with a calf injury during Spring Training, fielded a short chopper to the side of the mound and made an awkward throw to cut down a runner at home. After a few warmup tosses to feel it out, Brebbia exited the game and Steven Wilson took over. The White Sox said Brebbia exited the game due to right calf soreness.

Luis Robert Jr.

Robert Jr. played most of the game before his injury occurred.

As the White Sox looked to rally down 2-1 in the ninth inning, the star center fielder laced a double into the left-field corner. However, Robert Jr. pulled up in pain between first and second base and was immediately removed from the game for pinch-runner Kevin Pillar.

Manager Pedro Grifol said postgame that Robert Jr. is dealing with a right hip flexor injury and undergoing further evaluation.

With the White Sox offense struggling to produce much of anything, being without Robert Jr. for any period of time would be a substantial blow.
