Mets GM updates timeline for Francisco Lindor return

The New York Mets placed star shortstop Francisco Lindor on the injured list with a right oblique strain on July 17, and it's been unknown when the 27-year-old could be eligible to return to the lineup.

Acting general manager Zack Scott offered somewhat of a timeline for Lindor's potential return when speaking with reporters Monday:

Lindor recently told Peter Botte of the New York Post that he was "improving" but was considered "week-to-week" and wasn't yet resuming physical activities. "This first week was just letting the body recover and rest, and we’ll go from there," Lindor explained Friday. "I would love to have a timeline, and I would love to say, ‘Hey, I’m back in a week,’ but I really don’t. This is the first time I have [had an injury] like this."

Lindor joined the Mets via a trade from the Cleveland Indians in January and then signed a 10-year, $341 million contract with the Mets before Opening Day. He's batting .228 with 11 home runs and 36 RBI this season but, per Botte, slashed .333/.489/.500 with two homers and 10 RBI in 12 July games before his injury.
