Mets release comically brief statement on Carlos Correa

The nearly monthlong Carlos Correa free-agency saga finally ended on Wednesday, as the star shortstop was officially reintroduced as a member of the Minnesota Twins.

One of the two teams to see megadeals with the former AL Rookie of the Year fall apart in recent weeks released a statement regarding the situation on Wednesday as well.

The 13-word note may be one of the early contenders for MLB's biggest understatement of 2023, as Correa's "will he or won't he" with the Mets was one of the wildest rides in recent offseason history. Combine that with Correa's fallout with the San Francisco Giants, and it gets even crazier.

Per Nightengale, Correa said during Wednesday's press conference that the last month was "crazy" and "definitely an emotional roller-coaster." According to Dan Hayes of The Athletic, in reference to all the uncertainty surrounding his health and injuries, the former member of the Houston Astros said he learned that "doctors have differences of opinion."

Correa opted out of his three-year, $105.3 million contract with the Twins in in November and agreed to a 13-year, $350 million deal with the Giants in mid-December, subject to a physical. The two-time All-Star was scheduled to be introduced in San Francisco on Dec. 20, but the event was postponed due to a reported "medical concern" with his physical.

Correa's agent -- Scott Boras -- then connected with Mets owner Steve Cohen and the two sides came to an agreement on a 12-year, $315 million deal, before that contract was voided as well. It was reported on Tuesday that the 28-year-old's third contract of the offseason would be the charm, as he returned to the Twins on a six-year, $200 million deal.
