Mets sign son of Hall of Fame outfielder

The name Vladimir Guerrero is baseball royalty.

Patriarch, Vladimir Guerrero Sr. put together a Hall of Fame career over his 16 seasons in the majors. His son, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., is a three-time All-Star and one of the better first basemen in the game. The New York Mets hope those bloodlines continue to produce major league stars as they have signed Vladi Miguel Guerrero, son of Vlad Sr. and brother of Vlad Jr. He will receive a $117,000 bonus.

Although Vladi Miguel Guerrero was not listed among MLB's top 50 international prospects, he is still an intriguing prospect.

Vladi Miguel Guerrero's best asset is his ability to hit, as he is considered to have an impressive ability to control the strike zone and solid pop in his bat. There are questions about his future home defensively and whether or not he will stay in left, but his hit tool may be enough to carry him should he need to move to first.

This profile makes Vladi Miguel Guerrero well worth a look. Unlike his brother, he may not rise quickly through the minors, but he still has plenty of potential. He also has relatives who were able to find success at the major league level and know what it takes to get there. Five years down the line, he could easily outperform his humble prospect stature.

If bloodlines mean anything, the Mets have a future star in their system.
