Game Details: Wednesday, May 14, 2025 @ 1:10 pm EST

Location: Progressive Field in Cleveland, OH

Logan Henderson (R) vs. G. Williams (R)

Where to Watch: MLB.TV

The Milwaukee Brewers are set to wrap up a three-game set with the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday afternoon. The first two games have not been kind to the Brew Crew. They have been shut out in back-to-back games and need to find some offense if they are to avoid the sweep. Cleveland has won five of their last seven and has been dominating with pitching. Three of those five wins have been shutouts. Can Milwaukee find some offense in the series finale?

Key Stats

Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers have struggled as of late, only winning four of their last 12 games. The Apex Tale of the Tape makes it seem like these two teams are evenly matched. While across the first 40 games that is true, the recent stats show a much wider gap. Milwaukee is batting .182 over the past three games and has only averaged two runs per game over the same period. Over the past seven games, Christian Yelich is batting .217 and William Contreras is batting an abysmal .105. The hot bat is first baseman Rhys Hopkins who is batting .286 over the past week.

Right-hander Logan Henderson gets the start for an injury-riddled Brewers rotation. His last outing against the Athletics was solid. He pitched six innings, struck out nine batters, and picked up the win. It helped that the team exploded for 14 runs. He will likely be more tested today against the Guardians, but Milwaukee has historically been able to find quality starters despite injuries.

Cleveland Guardians

The Cleveland Guardians’ hitting lineup goes as Jose Ramirez goes. There’s a reason the Guardians have been hot lately. Over the past seven games, Ramirez is slashing .471/.550/.882 with two home runs and four stolen bases. Part of the reason for the slow start to the season was the slower start of their All-Star player, but he has found his form.

The Guardians are sending right-hander Gavin Williams to the mound. In his last outing, he pitched six shutout innings against a tough Philadelphia Phillies lineup. Before that start, Williams had struggled in 2025. He gave up seven hits in three straight starts and struggled with control, walking at least two batters in those three starts.

Prediction

These two teams are heading in opposite directions. However, I like Milwaukee in this spot. If they can figure out a way to contain Jose Ramirez, the lineup becomes much less potent. Furthermore, if they can stay patient at the plate, Williams could give them some baserunners. The Brewers are one of the league leaders in stolen bases, understanding they need to make things happen to score. Look for the Brewers to get on base and win a close one to avoid the sweep. Additionally, I’m taking the under as both offenses struggle to score.

Final Pick

Milwaukee Brewers ML (+114) & Under 8 (-105)
