After months of criticism, Major League Baseball is finally admitting that changes are needed to the new Nike-designed uniforms that were introduced for 2024.

In a statement, MLB said it would make significant adjustments to the uniforms, with the majority coming for the 2025 season. The league said Nike is working to address differences in color between the jerseys and pants of some road gray uniforms, and those changes could be made as soon as the second half of the current season. Nike is also looking to address the much-maligned issue of sweat discoloration on the uniforms.

In addition, larger lettering on the back of jerseys will return for the 2025 season, and players will have access to individual pant customization.

The new uniforms, introduced for the 2024 season, have been panned by fans and players alike. Part of the reason is for their low quality, but there have been some other glaring issues as well. The issue is significant enough that the MLBPA has even thrown Nike under the bus over it.

Ultimately, it sounds like players will have to deal with certain issues through the end of the season, but changes are coming.
