MLB to explore universal DH in 2020?
While a proposal on how to start the 2020 Major League Baseball season will be presented this week, it seems that there may be at least one rule change.
The universal designated hitter is "expected to be discussed" for the 2020 season if it can begin amid the pandemic, according to The Athletic's Jim Bowden.
This topic has been among the hottest in baseball for years now, and it's been viewed as inevitable that the National League would adopt the American League's DH rule at some point.
There's no word on whether or not the NL would accept such a proposal going into effect immediately, though should there be a season in 2020, there's already a worry players could be more susceptible to injury given their timelines for getting their bodies ready have been greatly altered. Perhaps keeping pitchers on the mound and out of the batter's box across the sport is for the best.
