His impact has been felt around the league with the likes of Dansby Swanson, Freddie Freeman and others benefiting from his tutelage and wisdom.
The Angels are hoping that can make a difference going forward. They are facing a rebuilding period now that Shohei Ohtani departed for the Dodgers, relying more on their young players than they have in the recent past. Washington is renowned for his ability to work with those youngsters, helping mold them into solid major-league options. His patience is well-known throughout the game.
