Newly elected Hall of Famer Fred McGriff never saw '90s instructional video he famously endorsed

Newly elected Hall of Famer Fred McGriff played 19 years in MLB, creating loads of memorable moments.

However, for those old enough to remember, the "Crime Dog" will always be synonymous with the commercial for Tom Emanski's baseball instructional video.

Now that McGriff has finally received the recognition he so richly deserves, there's no better time than the present to break some hearts.

Despite giving the video his full endorsement, over the years, McGriff has revealed several that he'd never actually seen it.

"I tell people, I honestly never seen this video in my life," McGriff said via MLB Network. "And this stinking video stayed on for 20 years. Every single evening, ESPN is usually on in the clubhouse; now I'm in the training room getting ready to play a game, and here comes this stinking commercial coming on TV."

Eligible since 2010, McGriff officially became a Hall of Famer on Sunday, elected unanimously by the Contemporary Baseball Era Players Committee.

McGriff was the only player out of eight candidates to be selected by the committee.

Players needed 75% of the vote to receive induction. Don Mattingly (8), Curt Schilling (7), and Dale Murphy (6) followed McGriff in the voting, while Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Rafael Palmeiro, and Albert Belle each received three votes or less.

A five-time All-Star, McGriff played for the Toronto Blue Jays, San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

McGriff finished his career with 2,490 hits, 493 home runs, and 1,550 RBI, slashing .284/.377/.509 in 2,460 career MLB games.
