Orioles promote Eve Rosenbaum to assistant GM of baseball operations

The last-place Baltimore Orioles announced some noteworthy news ahead of Friday's series opener versus the Cleveland Guardians.

Per the club's website and Jesse Rogers of ESPN, the Orioles promoted director of baseball development Eve Rosenbaum to the role of assistant general manager of baseball operations. Rosenbaum held her previous job with the organization since November 2019.

Rosenbaum will be tasked with overseeing roster decisions and transactions, financial planning, and big-league operations and administration. She will also "advise and assist" executive vice president and general manager Mike Elias and assistant GM Sig Mejdal.

Rosenbaum played catcher at Harvard University, where she graduated before she accepted an opportunity with the NFL as a junior rotational program member and as manager of business intelligence and optimization. After working for the NFL from 2012-15, she spent five seasons with the Houston Astros before making the move to Baltimore.

Back in March, Alyson Footer of the MLB's website named Rosenbaum as one of "the women breaking barriers across MLB" and also noted that she was the organization's highest-ranking female executive.

Miami Marlins GM Kim Ng is the only woman holding such a top-tier role in an MLB front office.
