Orioles reportedly will listen to trade offers for Trey Mancini

It appears the Baltimore Orioles are at least considering parting ways with one of their best players ahead of the July 30 trade deadline.

According to The Athletic's Dan Connolly, the Orioles are receiving calls on Trey Mancini, and they are listening.

"Teams are interested, and the Orioles will listen because Mancini is a free agent after 2022," Connolly wrote Tuesday. "But the sense is Mancini, 29, will not be moved this July."

Connolly adds that there have been no substantive contract talks between Mancini and the Orioles. The 29-year-old has one more year of arbitration remaining on his contract and will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2022 campaign.

Mancini has been one of Baltimore's best players since 2017. The veteran first baseman missed the entire 2020 season due to colon cancer but returned for the 2021 campaign after winning his battle with the illness.

This season, he's hitting .266/.337/.476 with 18 home runs and 59 RBI in 95 games. He also got the opportunity to compete in the Home Run Derby at this year's All-Star Game, making it to the finals before losing to New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso.

The Boston Red Sox are among teams that could use some depth at first base. However, it's unclear if the Orioles would want to move Mancini within the American League East. In addition, the Red Sox are reportedly looking to add a starting pitcher, and it's unclear what the team's stance is on adding another first baseman this week.

Baltimore is fifth in the AL East with a 34-64 record and heading for its fifth straight season without a playoff appearance.
