Argentine superstar Lionel Messi thinks Miami is his last stop.
In an interview with ESPN on Wednesday, Messi said , "As of today, I think [Inter Miami CF] is my last club."
Last summer, Messi left French club Paris Saint-Germain and signed a three-year deal with Inter Miami. It's worth noting his contract includes an option in 2026.
Even though he turns 37 on June 24, he's still one of the best players in the world. In his top 100 men's players of 2024, James Benge of CBS Sports Golazo Network rates Messi at No. 12. Through 11 games this season, Messi leads the MLS in assists (13) and is tied with teammate Luis Suarez for third in goals (12).

However, Messi doesn't need to prove himself at this point in his storied career. In 21 seasons with Barcelona F.C., PSG and Inter Miami, he has won a record eight Ballon d'Or awards. He also admitted it's easier to walk away from the game after winning his first FIFA World Cup in 2022.
"Yeah, there's a bit of fear that it's all ending. It's always there. It was a difficult step leaving Europe to come here [Miami]," Messi told ESPN. "The fact we won the World Cup helped, it helped a lot, to see things in another way. But I try not to think about it. I try to enjoy it. I do that more now because I'm aware that there's not a lot of time left."
Messi has yet to decide whether he'll participate in the 2026 World Cup, but he will play in the 2024 Copa America, which starts on Thursday. As of Wednesday, FanDuel gives Argentina the best odds (+175) to win the tournament ahead of Brazil and Uruguay.
