The Pittsburgh Pirates placed right-hander Wil Crowe on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday due to right shoulder discomfort.

The move is retroactive to Sunday, and fellow right-hander Cody Bolton was selected from Triple-A Indianapolis to take Crowe's spot in the bullpen.

Crowe, 28, is 0-1 with a 4.66 ERA and one save in five relief appearances for the Pirates this season. He has nine strikeouts and nine walks in 9 2/3 innings.

Bolton, 24, was 1-0 with a 2.38 ERA through eight relief appearances covering 11 1/3 innings at Indianapolis. He has no prior major league experience.
