Chase Hampton was born in Longview, Texas, on August 7, 2001. He played high school baseball at Kilgore High School in Kilgore, Texas. At Kilgore, he made 46 appearances, going 36-10 with a 1.94 ERA and 284 strikeouts in 162 innings. By the end of his high school career, Hampton was named First Team All-State and District MVP. Hampton finished his time with Hudson Valley by allowing only 14 earned runs, 16 walks, 1.000 WHIP, 5.9 H9, 3.1 BB9, and 14.7 SO9. The Yankees’ front office noticed Hampton’s talent and promoted him to the AA Somerset Patriots midway through the season. He has struggled when facing a more talented league of hitters, but his development suggests his pitch control will address those struggles. Hampton started in 11 games and finished the season with a 2-2 record. He tossed 59.2 innings with the Patriots while carrying a 4.37 ERA, allowing 29 runs, striking out 68, and walking 21.
