Connor Phillips was born in Houston, Texas, on May 4, 2001. He played high school baseball at Magnolia West High School in Magnolia, TX. He was the fifth-ranked RHP and the eighth-ranked overall player in Texas. Phillips in his senior season went 12-3 with a 1.13 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 92.2 innings. Phillips was ranked the 21st RHP nationally and the 61st overall high school player. He committed to play college baseball at Louisiana State University but instead enrolled at McLennan Community College.

Phillips at McLennan Community College made only six starts going 3-1 with a 3.16 ERA in 25.2 innings but his season would ultimately be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

When Was Connor Phillips Drafted?

Phillips was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays out of high school in the 35th round but did not sign and attended McLennan Community College. In 2020 he was back in the draft ranked as the 94th overall prospect. He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the second round of the draft.

2021

Phillips first season he pitched across two levels in the Mariners organization pitching at Single-A Modesto and High-A Everett making 17 starts going 7-4 with a 4.62 ERA, a 1.45 WHIP, and 111 strikeouts in 76 innings.


2022

Phillips before the season was traded from the Mariners to the Cincinnati Reds where he pitched at High-A Dayton and Double-A Chattanooga making 24 starts going 5-8 with a 3.78 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, and 150 strikeouts in 109.2 innings.

Phillips appeared in 25 games making 24 starts at Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Louisville going 4-5 with a 3.86 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP, and 154 strikeouts in 105 innings. He also pitched for the Reds making five starts going 1-1 with a 6.97 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and 26 strikeouts in 20.2 innings.

Future                                                                   

ITD ranks Phillips as the 71st overall prospect and the Reds fourth-ranked prospect. He is expected to start the season at Triple-A in 2024.
