When Was Luisangel Acuna Signed?

Acuna was originally signed by the Atlanta Braves in 2017 but due to the Braves international signing scandal, the Braves were stripped of the ability to sign him. He ended up signing with the Texas Rangers on July 2, 2018, with a $425,000 signing bonus.

Acuna started with the Rangers Dominican Summer League team playing in 51 games, he slashed .342/.438/.455 with a .893 OPS; he had 11 doubles, three triples, two home runs, 29 RBI, 61 runs scored, 17 stolen bases, and 34 walks.

2020

The 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2021

Acuna played for the Rangers Single-A Down East and played in 111 games and slashed .266/.345/.404 with a .749 OPS; he had 15 doubles, three triples, 12 home runs, 74 RBI, 77 runs scored, 44 stolen bases, and 49 walks.

2022

Acuna played at High-A Hickory and Double-A Frisco. He played in 91 games and slashed .277/.369/.426 with a .795 OPS; he had 16 doubles, two triples, 11 home runs, 47 RBI, 66 runs scored, 40 stolen bases, and 51 walks. He also played in the Arizona Fall League for Surprise, he played in 21 games and slashed .238/.322/.363 with a .685 OPS; he had two doubles, a triple, two home runs, 11 RBI, nine runs scored, eight stolen bases, and eight walks.

Acuna was ranked the 71st overall prospect by MLB.com and he played at Double-A Frisco before he was traded to the New York Mets, and he played for Double-A Binghamton with the Mets organization. Between the two organizations he played in 121 games and slashed .294/.359/.410 with a .769 OPS; he had 28 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 63 RBI, 93 runs scored, 57 stolen bases, and 52 walks.

Future                                                                   

ITD ranks Acuna as the 62nd overall prospect and the Mets third-ranked prospect. He will likely start 2024 at Triple-A.
