Zac Veen was born in Port Orange, Florida, on December 12, 2001. He played high school baseball at Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange, FL. He was the top-ranked outfielder and the top-ranked overall player in Florida. At Spruce Creek in his junior year, he hit .414 with 36 stolen bases and won the Daytona Beach News-Journal Baseball Player of the Year. Veen was ranked the top outfielder in the country and the top overall player. He committed to play college baseball at the University of Florida.

Veen was the top-ranked high school player entering the 2020 draft and the seventh overall player. The Colorado Rockies selected Veen with the ninth overall pick in the draft.

He played at Single-A Fresno in 106 games; he slashed .301/.399/.501 with a .901 OPS; he had 27 doubles, four triples, 15 home runs, 75 RBI, 83 runs scored, 36 stolen bases, and 64 walks.

2022

In 2022, Veen ranked as the 22nd prospect by Baseball America and 36th by MLB.com. He played for High-A Spokane and Double-A Hartford, appearing in 126 games, and he slashed .245/.340/.384 with a .724 OPS; he had 23 doubles, three triples, 12 home runs, 67 RBI, 84 runs scored, 55 stolen bases, and 64 walks. He played in the Arizona Fall League for Salt River, and he slashed .333/.444/.444 with a .889 OPS; he had six doubles, one home run, ten RBI, 15 runs scored, 16 stolen bases, and 15 walks. He also played in the Futures Game, going 2-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases.

2023

Veen fell in the Baseball America rankings as he came in at 51, and on MLB.com, he jumped up to 27th. He played at Double-A Hartford, slashing .209/.304/.308 with a .612 OPS; he had seven doubles, two triples, two home runs, 24 RBI, 15 runs scored, 22 stolen bases, and 23 walks; his season was cut short as he only played in 46 games. He also played in the Puerto Rican Winter League for Ponce, and he slashed .429/.478/.619 with a 1.097 OPS; he had four doubles, one RBI, four runs scored, three stolen bases, and two walks.

ITD ranks Veen as the 88th overall prospect and the Rockies fourth ranked prospect. He will likely start the season either at Double-A or Triple-A.
