Zac Veen was born in Port Orange, Florida, on December 12, 2001. He played high school baseball at Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange, FL. He was the top-ranked outfielder and the top-ranked overall player in Florida. At Spruce Creek in his junior year, he hit .414 with 36 stolen bases and won the Daytona Beach News-Journal Baseball Player of the Year. Veen was ranked the top outfielder in the country and the top overall player. He committed to play college baseball at the University of Florida.

He played for High-A Spokane and Double-A Hartford, appearing in 126 games, and he slashed .245/.340/.384 with a .724 OPS; he had 23 doubles, three triples, 12 home runs, 67 RBI, 84 runs scored, 55 stolen bases, and 64 walks. He played in the Arizona Fall League for Salt River, and he slashed .333/.444/.444 with a .889 OPS; he had six doubles, one home run, ten RBI, 15 runs scored, 16 stolen bases, and 15 walks.
