The San Diego Padres had a busy trade deadline on August 1, adding five new players to contribute to their 2023 postseason run.

Rich Hill, Ji-Man Choi, Scott Barlow, Garrett Cooper and Sean Reynolds were all acquired by San Diego, meaning they had to make tons of room on the active roster.

On Wednesday, they did just that.

The Padres announced a slew of roster moves, adding Choi, Cooper and Barlow to the active roster and recalling LHP Ray Kerr from Triple-A.

In corresponding moves, LHP Tim Hill was placed on the 15-day IL, C Brett Sullivan was optioned and RHP Brent Honeywell was designated for assignment.

Obviously the biggest move involved Honeywell, as he had appeared in 36 games out of the Padres' bullpen this season.

On the year, Honeywell sported a 4.05 ERA in 46.2 innings. Barlow will be taking his spot in the 'pen, so Honeywell will head to waivers, hoping to find a new team to latch onto.

If he's unable to find a new home, he could wind up back in the Padres' organization in Triple-A.

As for the other moves, Hill has a 4.22 ERA in 45 appearances, so he'll be another big loss in the bullpen for now.

Kerr, who's replacing Hill, has a 2.61 ERA in 31 gams in Triple-A this season.

He's struggled in minimal opportunities at the MLB level, but will have a great chance here to prove he belongs.
