The Texas Rangers announced prior to Friday’s homestand opener against the Minnesota Twins that the club has recalled left-handed pitcher Cody Bradford and catcher Sam Huff from Triple-A Round Rock.

Major League Baseball active rosters expand to 28 players from Sept. 1 through the end of the regular season. The additions of Bradford and Huff bring the Rangers’ active roster to the 28-man limit.

Bradford has a 2-1 record with a 4.50 ERA (20 ER/40.0 IP) over 12 games/6 starts spanning three stints with Texas this season (May 15, May 27-28, June 13-July 31) in his first Major League action. He has spent the balance of the season with Round Rock (AAA), going 9-2 with a 3.63 ERA (30 ER/74 1/3 IP) over 14 games/starts with a 1.170 WHIP figure and 7.9 strikeouts per 9 innings. Bradford last pitched in a start last Friday vs. Salt Lake.

Huff has batted .237 (9-38) with a home run, 2 doubles and 3 RBI over 16 games/9 starts spanning three stints with the Rangers this season: May 9-16, June 14-29, and July 22-August 12). He has spent the rest of the campaign at Round Rock, compiling a .302/.407/.547/.954 (78-258) slash line with 16 home runs and 64 RBI across 55 games in the Pacific Coast League. Huff has played 11 games for the Express since he was last optioned on August 13, batting .325/.491/.550/1.041 (13-40) with 2 home runs, 9 RBI, 13 walks and 12 strikeouts.

The club also announced that infielder/outfielder Brad Miller will begin an injury rehabilitation assignment with Double-A Frisco Friday night. Miller was placed on the 10-day Injured List on Aug. 2 with a left hamstring strain.

Following today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with three players (Jacob deGrom, Brett Martin, and Jake Odorizzi) on the 60-day Injured List.
