Rangers' Joey Gallo returns to training after testing negative for coronavirus

Texas Rangers All-Star outfielder Joey Gallo returned to club training sessions on Friday after providing a second negative coronavirus test result.

As noted by ESPN, Gallo first tested positive for the virus in late June, but the 26-year-old had a second test come back negative. Since that time, Gallo tested positive once and negative twice. He never developed coronavirus symptoms.

Per MLB health and safety protocols, the second negative result, coupled with a doctor's approval, allowed him to rejoin the Rangers.

As Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News wrote, Gallo's situation raised additional concerns over the accuracy of coronavirus tests that have supposedly produced "false positives" in the English Premier League, Major League Soccer, the UFC and the PGA

One assumption is that "false positives" existing means even one "false negative" could lead to an outbreak among a franchise that believed it followed all guidelines and protocols.
