Leody Taveras looking to build off his "big season" with the Texas Rangers heading into 2024.

He also has a few goals he hopes to accomplish.

"My balance when hitting," Taveras said during Rangers FanFest last week. "[I also want to improve] on my base stealing."

The Rangers center fielder was very dependable in the No. 9 hole last season as the franchise clinched its first World Series title. He consistently kept innings alive, routinely turning bloop singles into scoring opportunities.

Last season, Taveras hit .266 with a career-high 14 home runs and 67 RBI. He also stole 14 bases and was caught four times.

"It's baseball," Taveras said. "You never stop learning."

Taveras is confident the Rangers' outfield, with Evan Carter in left and Adolis Garcia in right, will be one of the best defensive outfields in the majors. Fans already know what the 25-year-old is capable of in center and how he's a step away from turning a no-doubt home run into a must-see web gem.

If top prospect Wyatt Langford makes the Opening Day roster, Texas would likely carry five outfielders. The 2023 first-round pick is unlikely to be on the roster if there's not an everyday lineup spot available. Travis Jankowski, a veteran defensive specialist and well-known base stealer, will be used as the fourth outfielder and frequent designated hitter. Jankowski's impact in the clubhouse transcends his role as a late-inning replacement. He also serves as a teacher to younger players, including Taveras, who credited him with helping him produce last season.

"He's a guy that will help you out however he can," Taveras said. "For me, he's a good guy. We need him."
