Red Sox sign 17-year-old third-round pick Blaze Jordan for $1.75M
The Boston Red Sox signed one of their top draft picks of 2020. Boston and third-round pick Blaze Jordan reportedly agreed to a $1.75 million signing bonus, according to MassLive's Chris Cotillo.
Jordan's bonus comes in significantly higher than the slot value for the 89th overall pick, which is $667,900.
The 17-year-old will fly to Boston next week to take a physical and make his deal official, Cotillo adds. Jordan originally was scheduled to complete the process in Fort Myers, Fla., but had to change plans when spring training facilities in the state were shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to Cotillo, the Red Sox now have $3.38 million to sign their other three draft picks: pitchers Jeremy Wu-Yelland, Shane Drohan and infielder Nick Yorke.
