The Boston Red Sox appear to have assembled a handful of future stars.

Marcelo Mayer has been ranked as a top 10 Major League Baseball prospect for months and is now joined by a young slugger within the organization.

Baseball Prospectus released their top 50 prospects through the midpoint of the 2023 season, where they named High-A Greenville Drive outfielder Roman Anthony as their No. 9 prospect in the league. Anthony surpassed Mayer, who sits at number 10.

The outfielder was drafted by the Red Sox in 2022, spent some time with the Single-A Salem Red Sox to open the season and last month was promoted to Greenville. Anthony is the youngest player in all of High-A at only 19 years old.

Since being brought up to Greenville, Anthony is hitting .362 with six extra-base hits including seven home runs, 17 RBIs and a 1.331 OPS in 58 at-bats across 16 games.

The ranking of both Mayer and Anthony comes right after the conclusion of the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft. Fans have reason to believe that the front office had another hit after many of chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom's draft choices currently rank as top prospects.

The current success of the club is middling but the future appears to be quite bright.
