Reds All-Star Nick Castellanos out 'a couple weeks' with wrist microfracture?

Cincinnati Reds right fielder Nick Castellanos has mostly been a spectator since he was hit on the right wrist by a pitch during Friday's loss versus the Milwaukee Brewers.

It appears Castellanos will be sidelined a little longer.

According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, Castellanos could miss "a couple weeks" of action due to a right wrist microfracture. The specifics about the injury aren't surprising. Mark Sheldon noted for the league's website that Castellanos revealed he suffered the microfracture following Wednesday's home loss to the New York Mets.

"So, I got a CAT scan today. I have a microfracture in my wrist that I'm dealing with," the 2021 All-Star said. "So yeah, I’ve got to rest it. I'm going to take a couple days to just see where I'm at."

Interestingly, Castellanos had only one at-bat during the series versus the Mets, which came in the bottom half of the 11th inning of Monday's defeat. He later said he was "probably 50%" throughout the series.

Per ESPN stats, Castellanos is second in all of MLB with a .329 average and tied for first with 29 doubles. He's also contributed 18 home runs and 59 RBI across 86 games this season.

At the start of Thursday's action, the Reds were 49-47 and 6.5 games back of the first-place Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central standings.
