Report: Giants trying to connect Aaron Judge with Stephen Curry in recruitment pitch

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is arguably the most recognizable face of the Bay Area sports scene, so the San Francisco Giants are reportedly using him as part of their recruitment pitch to AL MVP Aaron Judge.

Pavlovic reported Wednesday that Judge arrived in San Francisco on Monday and "met with Giants officials" for two days. On Monday night, the New York Yankees single-season home run record holder had dinner with Giants president and CEO Larry Baer, president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi, manager Gabe Kapler and "other members of the organization," according to Pavlovic.

"The visit is the first known meeting between Judge and a team other than the Yankees, but a source said the Giants expect him to listen to others in the coming days and expect the rival Los Angeles Dodgers to be involved, as well," Pavlovic wrote. "While Judge mostly has kept a low profile since the end of the season, he indicated last week that he was very early in the process, saying he was looking forward to getting started after becoming a free agent for the first time."

Though Curry was born in Akron, Ohio and attended Davidson College in North Carolina, he has been in the Bay Area for over a dozen years. He was selected by the Golden State Warriors with the seventh overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft and has spent his entire legendary career with the Dubs.

Late Tuesday night, Giants All-Star outfielder Joc Pederson took to Instagram to make his pitch to Judge. The 30-year-old career-long member of the Yankees led the league in home runs (62), RBIs (131), runs scored (133), walks (111), on-base percentage (.425), slugging percentage (.686), OPS (1.111) and total bases (391) during the 2022 regular season.

The four-time All-Star was born in Linden, California, which is approximately 100 miles away from San Francisco.
