Report: Orioles working on trading right-hander Alex Cobb to Angels
The Baltimore Orioles reportedly are parting ways with a pitcher who has spent his last three seasons with the franchise.
According to The Athletic's Dan Connolly and Ken Rosenthal, the Orioles are trading Alex Cobb to the Los Angeles Angels. Details on the return are not yet known.
Cobb has a 10-team no-trade clause, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. It's unclear if the Angels are on it. Even if they are, the right-hander could approve a deal to the franchise.
If the trade happens, Cobb will reunite with former Orioles teammate Dylan Bundy. He'll also reunite with Joe Maddon, who managed him from 2011-14 with the Tampa Bay Rays.
During the pandemic-shortened campaign, Cobb went 2-5 with a 4.30 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 38 strikeouts in 51.1 innings. In nine seasons between the Orioles and Rays, he has a 3.88 ERA.
A move to L.A. would put Cobb in a rotation including Bundy, Jose Quintana, Andrew Heaney and Shohei Ohtani.
