Ronald Acuna Jr. returns to Braves lineup after four-game absence

The Atlanta Braves suffered one of their biggest defeats of the 2022 season on Thursday in a 14-4 shellacking on the road against the Philadelphia Phillies. On Friday, the team will be getting back their superstar right fielder back in the lineup for the first time in nearly one week.

Acuna Jr. has been out since he went down with a bruised left foot on Saturday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 2018 Rookie of the Year, Acuna Jr. has slashed .281/.372/.455 through 43 games this year with seven home runs and 18 RBIs, while registering 13 stolen bases.

The 24-year-old missed the beginning of the season while recovering from last year's torn ACL. Acuna Jr. was activated off the injured list on April 28.

In 82 games last year, he recorded 24 home runs, 52 RBIs, 17 stolen bases and a .283/.394/.596 slash line across 297 at-bats. Acuna Jr. finished fifth in the NL MVP voting in 2019, earned his first of two All-Star nods and grabbed his first of two Silver Slugger awards after leading the senior circuit in plate appearances (715,) runs scored (127) and stolen bases (37.)
