Sammy Sosa in 2017 looks much different than the Sammy Sosa you remember blasting home runs over the wall at Wrigley Field, and his new appearance is giving some people nightmares.

Sosa’s skin color has changed rather drastically over the years, and speculation began building in 2009 that he is suffering from a skin condition like the one Michael Jackson had. However, Sosa revealed that the lightening was the result of a facial cream he had been using. If his appearance on ESPN this week is any indication, the 48-year-old is still using the same product.

As you might expect, the memes have been ruthless. The pigmentation change is one thing, but Sosa has taken things to a new level by wearing all pink. Of course, the internet showed him no mercy.

If Sosa’s change in appearance has been totally voluntary, you have to wonder what is going through his head. He has become a punchline for jokes from other pro baseball players over the years, and he recently expressed disappointment over the Cubs distancing themselves from him. Most of that likely has to do with Sosa’s ties to PEDs, but it wouldn’t be unreasonable to assume his “changes” have played a role as well.
