Shohei Ohtani finally reveals the name of his dog

The free agency pursuit of Shohei Ohtani was clouded with secrecy. From the potential landing spots, to Ohtani's location all the way down to the name of the superstar's dog.

On Thursday during his introductory press conference with the Los Angeles Dodgers, he finally revealed the latter.

His dog's name? Decoy.

His dog became the subject of curiosity when it was reported that he was hiding the name of the dog because it was rumored to be named after one of the teams that he was considering. That led to speculation that the dog's name was "Dodger" or something related to another Major League team.

Ohtani agreed to a whopping 10-year, $700 million contract with the Dodgers over the weekend. It is a record contract for North American sports and also features a staggering $680 million in deferred salary. He will make just $2 million per season over the duration of the contract and receive the bulk of his money after the deal ends.

Ohtani is the best player in baseball and has spent the past three years making history as a two-way player, dominating as one of the best left-handed power hitters in baseball and also as a starting pitcher. He will not be able to pitch during the 2024 season after undergoing elbow surgery this offseason, but he will still be a major power presence in the middle of the Dodgers' lineup.
