Some good news on the injury front for the Texas Rangers.

X-rays came back negative on starting pitcher Jon Gray, who was hit by a line drive during Saturday night's loss to the Astros.

He left the game in third inning after attempting to stay in and was diagnosed with a right forearm bruise.

After the game, manager Bruce Bochy said his x-rays came back negative and he is not expected to need a trip to the injured list and should make his next start as scheduled.

The ball was hit by Houston Astros' player Yainer Diaz and went for a single. It came off the bat at more than 109 mph.

Gray is in the second year of a four-year, $56 million deal that was signed before the 2022 season. The Rangers have spent a ton of money to upgrade their pitching staff, signing Gray last offseason and Jacob deGrom, Andrew Heaney and Nathan Eovaldi this offseason. This all comes in addition to signing Corey Seager and Marcus Semien before the 2022 season to bump up the offense as well.

The 31-year-old is 1-1 this season with a 3.21 ERA. For his career, he's 61-57 with a 4.49 ERA. He spent seven years with the Colorado Rockies before signing with Texas.

The Rangers are currently 8-6 and in first place in the American League West. The Rangers are 7-8. The two teams will play on Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN with first pitch at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Astros catcher Martin Maldonado will make history in that game, becoming the first catcher to be mic'd up during the game.
