Did You Notice?

• Two former Mississippi State players, first baseman Nate Lowe and reliever Chris Stratton, celebrated winning the World Series as the Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0. Lowe went 1-for-3 with walk and was part of the four-run ninth inning to clinch the first World Series win in franchise history.

 • The men's golf team shot a combined 18-under 270, the second-lowest round in program history, during the second round at the Kapolei Invitational in Hawaii. For the first time this season, all five of MSU's golfers in the team lineup finished multiple strokes under par, including individual Alejandro Pedryc, leading to MSU's lowest round against par since last year's 23-under showing at the Mossy Oak Collegiate.

• The Texas Sports Hall of Fame announced that former Mississippi State coaches Jackie Sherrill and the late Mike Leach will be part of the 2024 induction class. They'll be joining Jamaal Charles, Andy Cooper, Judge Roy Hofheinz, Barbara Jacket, Colt McCoy, Bubba Thornton and Christa Williams.

Quote of the Day

"If I’m not going to be there with you, this is the second-best place I could be. So for you to sit at home and cheer for me, to give me this opportunity, to become this guy, to become this athlete, to be this teammate, and be in this position with my brothers, is so special. And I'm so grateful for you for allowing me to get to this point. I love you to the moon and back and I'm so proud of you for getting through your first round of chemo radiation. I can’t wait to get home and see you."

— Lowe with a heartfelt message to his mother, who just went through her first round of chemotherapy, on Fox Sports.

We'll Leave You With This ...
