Trevor Bauer lashed out on Twitter after being accused of writing a controversial phrase on the pitcher’s mound during his start against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday.

The Cleveland Indians defeated the Chicago Cubs 10-1, but most of the talk after the game was about Bauer’s mound message. Before the game got underway, Bauer used his cleats to write what looked like “BD911” on the back of the mound. Many thought that message stood for “Bush Did 9/11,” which is a political conspiracy theory.

However, Bauer set the record straight on Twitter, saying his message was “BD 91.1” and has personal meaning to him.

Bauer is no stranger to expressing his views on matters. Earlier in the season, Bauer accused Houston Astros pitchers of doctoring baseballs. It doesn’t look like he was being political this time.

Controversy aside, Bauer enjoyed a solid outing on Tuesday. He did not allow any runs during the six innings he pitched and recorded six strikeouts. For the season, he has a 2.35 ERA in 65 innings.
