Trevor Bauer wants another chance in MLB

Starting pitcher Trevor Bauer is hoping for another opportunity in MLB and said in an interview on Thursday night that he was "reckless" and "made mistakes" that resulted in him being suspended from the league.

Bauer has been out of MLB since the 2021 season when a San Diego woman said he sexual assaulted her, resulting in a 324-game suspension from the league. (It was later reduced to 194 games in arbitration.) Two other women later came forward with allegations against Bauer. He and the San Diego woman eventually settled civil lawsuits with one another.

In an interview with Fox News on Thursday, Bauer addressed the situations and said they were consensual encounters. He also said he did things he shouldn't have done and hurt a lot of people along the way.

Following the conclusion of his suspension, the Dodgers released Bauer during the 2023 season. After no MLB team was willing to sign him, he ended up pitching in Japan.

Following a strong season overseas, Bauer still believes he is one of the best pitchers in the world and wants another opportunity in the major leagues.

"I'd love to play baseball. I mean, that's my goal, is to play baseball here in the United States," Bauer said. "I'm still one of the best pitchers in the world. I'd like to compete at the highest level. I'm also really passionate about helping people, being good for the game. I think I've done a lot of damage, unfortunately, in the first half of my career, and I'd love a second opportunity to do things better."

Bauer was asked if he was apologizing for his actions and responded by saying, “I'm certainly taking accountability for my role in this. I've put myself in a lot of positions that have made things very hard for people, and I'm trying to be better.” He also said he is not the same person that he was five or 10 years ago and that his beliefs are different.
