The Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Angels got into a rare pregame confrontation before the first pitch of the series finale between the two teams on Wednesday.
Tempers flared during pregame warmups at Fenway Park when Red Sox first base coach Jose Flores appeared to confront Angels pitcher Tyler Anderson over something. Anderson took exception to whatever it was Flores had to say, and the two came face to face.
Flores initially began walking away, but players and coaches on both teams then began jawing even more. NESN shared a roughly one-minute video of the exchange but quickly deleted it.
A reporter who was on the field also captured some of the altercation:

Red Sox manager Alex Cora was seen drinking a coffee in the outfield and talking to a member of the Angels staff while the puzzling situation unfolded.
Anderson pitched in the first game of the series on Monday night. He allowed five earned runs and seven hits over 4 1/3 innings in a 7-6 Angels win. L.A. also beat the Red Sox 4-3 on Tuesday night.
The Red Sox have fallen to 29-34 on the season, so perhaps that has something to do with why they were on edge. They’ve lost eight of their last 10 games, and it may not be long before they have to make the move that their fans have been clamoring for.
