Twins place Kyle Garlick, Max Kepler, Caleb Thielbar on COVID-19 IL

The Minnesota Twins haven't played since Friday's 10-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels and had three consecutive games postponed due to COVID-19 issues.

Ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Oakland Athletics, the Twins confirmed that outfielders Kyle Garlick and Max Kepler and also left-handed pitcher Caleb Thielbar have been added to the COVID-19 injured list. Megan Ryan of the Star Tribune explained that Garlick and Kepler tested positive for the virus in Anaheim, while Thielbar was deemed a high-risk close contact. Shortstop Andrelton Simmons tested positive last week.

Players who test positive for the coronavirus must miss a minimum of 10 days before they can be cleared to return to team activities.

In corresponding roster moves, the Twins reinstated outfielder Brent Rooker from the 10-day IL, recalled infielder Travis Blankenhorn from the taxi squad, and selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Luke Farrell. Minnesota also added southpaw Lewis Thorpe to the main roster as the 27th man for Tuesday's doubleheader. He started in Friday's loss at the Angels and surrendered two runs on three hits across four innings.

Minnesota began Tuesday fourth in the American League Central standings at 6-8 on the campaign.
