Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays players engage in a brawl in the eighth inning at American Family Field. Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

A one-sided affair Tuesday between the Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers suddenly turned contentious in a matter of seconds.

The Brewers were leading 8-2 over the Rays in the top of the eighth inning at American Family Field in Milwaukee.

Rays outfielder Jose Siri was the first batter up in the inning against Brewers relief pitcher Abner Uribe. Siri softly grounded out to Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins as Uribe covered the first-base bag.

Uribe and Siri began chirping as the latter walked off first base. Before the umpires could take control of the situation, Uribe and Siri exchanged blows. Benches from both sides cleared.

Here’s another angle of the altercation.

Both Uribe and Siri were ejected from the contest.

The rest of the game proved uneventful as the Brewers held on for an 8-2 win over the Rays.

The win must have felt good for Milwaukee given how the team’s Monday contest ended. The previous contest saw the Brewers appear to tie the game in the ninth on a passed ball from Rays catcher Rene Pinto. However, a controversial ruling resulted in the Rays winning 1-0 over the Brewers.
