Watch: Called-up Wednesday, Braves top prospect Vaughn Grissom homers against Red Sox for first major league hit

It's been an insane 24 hours for Atlanta Braves' top prospect Vaughn Grissom.

Having already advanced from Single-A to Double-A this season, the Braves notified Grissom that he was being called up again on Tuesday. Only, this time, he was skipping Triple-A and headed right to the big leagues.

Grissom made his major league debut for the Braves Wednesday night at one of baseball's grand cathedrals, Fenway Park in Boston.

After going 0-for-2 to start the evening, Grissom had his moment in the top half of the seventh inning.

With a runner on first and the Braves leading 3-1, Grissom smashed the first pitch he saw from Red Sox reliever Darwinzon Hernandez over Fenway's Green Monster.

Grissom finished his home run swing with a confident bat flip. Not bad for a guy who 'couldn't even speak' after learning the news of his call-up.

"I mean, all my childhood dreams came true," Grissom told MLB.com's Molly Burkhardt before Wednesday's game. "You think you're going to react a lot easier and a lot better, and then it happened and I thought I was having a heart attack."

The Braves selected Grissom in the 11th round of the 2019 MLB draft.

In 96 games between Single-A and Double-A, Grissom batted .405/.494/.899 with 14 home runs, 67 RBI, 34 walks, and 13 stolen bases.
