The Chicago White Sox selected the contract of infielder Danny Mendick from Triple-A Charlotte among other moves on Monday afternoon.

Mendick was in the starting lineup for Chicago's series opener at the Minnesota Twins later Monday, playing third base and batting eighth.

The White Sox also reinstated right-handed pitcher John Brebbia from the 15-day injured list, optioned infielder Lenyn Sosa and right-hander Nick Nastrini to Triple-A, and designated infielder Zach Remillard for assignment.

Mendick, 30, played for Chicago from 2019-22 and will make his first major league appearance of the season Monday. After batting .251 with 10 home runs and 45 RBIs in 151 games for the White Sox, Mendick spent 2023 with the New York Mets, with whom he played 33 games and hit .185 with one homer.

At Charlotte, Mendick was batting .317 with eight home runs and 20 RBIs in 19 games.

Brebbia, 33, had been on the IL with a right calf strain. He made one rehab assignment for Charlotte and did not allow a run. The reliever last played for the White Sox on April 5 and has thrown 2 2/3 scoreless innings in four appearances.

Nastrini, 24, made his major league debut on April 15 and has gone 0-2 with a 7.88 ERA in two starts for Chicago.

Sosa, 24, batted .132 across 12 games for the White Sox this season.

Remillard, a 30-year-old who made his MLB debut last year, got into just two games earlier this season and batted 1-for-5 before being optioned to Triple-A last week.
