White Sox LF Eloy Jimenez leaves game with 'significant' hamstring injury
White Sox left fielder Eloy left Chicago's game against the Minnesota Twins Saturday afternoon with an apparent hamstring injury.
Jimenez attempted to run out a ground ball in the top of the second inning before stumbling to the ground after passing first base. He laid on the field, grabbing the back of his right knee before eventually being carted off the field.
"Jimenez initial diagnosis is right hamstring tear (also sometimes called strain)," MLB Network's Jon Heyman tweeted. "White Sox are only saying hamstring injury is "significant" until their own docs see him. Tony La Russa did say they expect him to miss less time than he missed with pec injury last year."
Jimenez had surgery to repair a torn pectoral tendon in March 2021 and didn't make his season debut until July 26.
The 25-year-old is batting .229 with a home run and seven RBI in 38 plate appearances.
Signed by the Chicago Cubs as an amateur free agent in 2013, the Cubs traded Jimenez, Dylan Cease, and two minor leaguers for Jose Quintana in 2017.
Over four seasons with the White Sox, Jimenez has played 242 games, batting .268 with 249 hits, 56 home runs, and 163 RBI.
