Yankees legend Yogi Berra gets U.S. stamp

New York Yankees legend and Baseball Hall of Famer Yogi Berra passed away in September 2015 but remains one of the most beloved figures in the long history of the sport largely because of the colorful and unique sayings he created throughout much of his adult life.

On Thursday, the United States Postal Service unveiled a stamp honoring the three-time Most Valuable Player.

"He got his fame from the Yankees, but he took that fame and used it in respectable ways to earn the respect of just about everybody he ever met," Yogi’s son Larry Berra said at a ceremony held at the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center in Little Falls, N.J., per Bill Ladson of the MLB website.

Ladson noted the stamps can be purchased at the museum.

"We hope this stamp will serve as a reminder of Yogi's larger-than-life personality, both on and off the field," U.S. Postal Service board of governors chairman Ron Bloom added, according to The Associated Press (h/t ESPN).

Berra earned 10 World Series rings as a player and three more as a coach, but many know him mostly for the "Yogi-isms" he said over the years, such as: "It ain't over 'til it's over."
