The New York Yankees are anticipating the return of a future star.

21-year-old center fielder Jasson Dominguez greatly impressed in his brief 2023 season before undergoing Tommy John surgery. The team expects him to return to the field in the summer, likely around the All-Star break.

However, recent updates show that Dominguez could possibly come back sooner.

Beat reporter Bryan Hoch provided a group of photos from Tuesday's team workout in Tampa; one of them showed Dominguez, with a ball and a glove, working out with team captain Aaron Judge. The photo was quickly reposted by Talkin' Yanks, and Hoch in turn quote-tweeted the photo with a very promising update.

Hoch reported that Dominguez is already shagging fly balls in the outfield, and will soon be playing catch. By the end of camp, Dominguez should be cleared to swing a bat.

Currently, the Yankees still expect Dominguez to return in the summer; also, because he is still a developing prospect, the team will not rush him back into action and will likely have him start the 2024 season in MiLB.

But if progress like this continues to be made, then "The Martian" could return to the Bronx sooner than expected.
