Darren Till (18-5-1) is the type of person who dreams big, regardless of the circumstances. He doesn’t let getting released from the UFC bog him down. After all, that’s why he’s trying his hand at boxing during Jake Paul and Mike Tyson’s megafight.
However, he’s bold enough to proclaim that he can win a UFC championship. Of course, that requires getting back into the promotion, which might take some convincing. But that doesn’t deter the English MMA fighter from giving it another go. After all, why not keep going at the ripe ol’ age of 31 years old?
With Till’s most noteworthy fight being against Donald Cerrone, it’s worth giving another try. But can the former challenger for the UFC Welterweight Championship win a title in the Las Vegas-based promotion?
What Darren Till Has Going For Him
Obviously, Darren Till is 31 years old, which means he has all the time in the world to get back into MMA fighting. The English fighter hasn’t even hit his prime yet in MMA. Therefore, he has plenty of time to return to the UFC and come back into the title picture.
He also has some noteworthy victories to brag about, including Cerrone and Stephen Thompson. If Till does get a UFC return, he can re-establish himself in the welterweight picture (or even middleweight) and get back into the swing of things.
Of course, he must prove himself on the independent market and boxing scene to even get a chance. However, Till can take his time and better himself. That way, he can come back into the UFC with a vengeance and make one last push for a title.
Why It Won’t Happen
How much will the boxing tenure take hold? Will it be temporary or will it last for years? That’s the major question surrounding Darren Till, for he might be tied up with the sport for some time. If he aims to eventually return to the UFC, he must evaluate whether he wants to be a boxer long-term.
Of course, that could drastically eat into his timeframe to return to the UFC. That also affects his MMA career, for he can’t possibly balance both practices at once. Therefore, he’s hurting his chance at getting another UFC title shot in the future.
Plus, does he have enough juice to get back into the picture? While defeating Donald Cerrone and Stephen Thompson is nice, he’ll need more convincing victories to make himself noticed. He choked in the big picture against Tyron Woodley and Jorge Masvidal, which doesn’t help his case. Therefore, he must rack up the wins before getting considered for a title shot.
