Dustin Poirier’s net worth in 2024 is $6 million. Poirier’s UFC career has been long and illustrious, but it is likely coming to a close sooner rather than later. That means his biggest paydays might be in the past, and his net worth likely isn’t going to increase too much more going forward. Still, Poirier has arguably the biggest fight of his life ahead of him, as he will fight Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title at UFC 302. The fight has a chance to change Poirier’s life, and it will certainly increase his net worth. With UFC 302 just around the corner, we decided to look at how Poirier has come to his wealth.
Dustin Poirier’s net worth in 2024 (estimate): $6 million
Reports on Dustin Poirier’s net worth vary some, but most indicate that he is worth between $6 and $10 million. This is according to sources including sportskeeda and celebritynetworth.
With 30 UFC fights (and 39 total professional MMA fights) to his name, Poirier has had plenty of time to build up his net worth. Of course, the majority of his wealth comes from his time in the octagon.
Poirier is perhaps best known for fighting Conor McGregor, the biggest name in MMA history. While he lost to McGregor when the two fighters were both younger and the notorious one was emerging as a star, they eventually fought twice more, both of which Poirier won.
Poirier’s second and third fights against McGregor came at UFC 257 and UFC 264, and by this time, anything McGregor touched turned to gold. Because of that, Poirier received his biggest payday in the trilogy fight. There, he earned $1.5 million. In the fight prior against McGregor, Poirier received a $1 million purse.
Even though he won both of those fights, Poirier didn’t make nearly as much as McGregor, he certainly couldn’t complain about his purses or the amount of notoriety that he received from the fights, though. On top of his fight purses, Poirier has made tons of money through performance bonuses. He has nine Fight of the Night bonuses, four Performance of the Night bonuses, and one Submission of the Night bonus.
Poirier, nicknamed The Diamond, has become a fan favorite in the UFC. Because of that, he has been able to make money in ventures outside of the UFC. He has endorsement deals with Reebok, Robert Graham, and Celsius Energy Drinks.
Poirier is also a businessman. He has a CBD company called REAP CBD, and a hot sauce company called Poirier’s Louisiana Style Hot Sauce, the latter of which has grown massively in popularity as of recent.
Dustin Poirier’s MMA career
Dustin Poirier is one of the most legendary UFC fighters ever, and he is amongst the elite in a number of records. He ranks fourth in wins (22), fourth in finishes (15), third in knockouts (11), fifth in knockdowns (14), and 10th in significant strikes landed (1,678). His MMA career started way back in 2009.
In regional promotions, Poirier was able to start his MMA career off 7-0 before he got a chance with World Extreme Cagefighting. In his debut with the promotion, he suffered his first loss, a unanimous decision loss to Danny Castillo. Poirier did collect a win in his next fight with the promotion over Zach Micklewright before WEC merged with the UFC.
Fighting at featherweight, Poirier made his UFC debut at UFC 125 in a win over Josh Grispi. It started a four-fight win streak in his new promotion. This included a win over Max Holloway, another UFC legend who has found struggles against The Diamond.
Poirier’s first loss in the UFC came in the first event that he headlined when he took on the Korean Zombie in the May 15, 2012 UFC on Fuel TV event. He bounced back against Jonathan Brookins, but then he lost again to Cub Swanson. From there on, Poirier became a new fighter and a force to be reckoned with in the company.
Poirier won seven of his next eight fights, with the only loss during that stretch coming at the hands of Conor McGregor during his tear through the UFC. From 2015 to 2018, after making the jump up to the lightweight division, Poirier would go on to collect impressive wins over the likes of Bobby Green, Jim Miller, Anthony Pettis, Justin Gaethje, Eddie Alvarez, and many more.
Poirier’s success in his new weight class afforded him an opportunity to fight for the belt. He once again took on Holloway, but this time for the Interim Lightweight Championship at UFC 236. He beat Holloway, which set up a title unification bout against the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov. Unfortunately, Nurmagomedov was too much to handle, and Poirier wasn’t able to become the undisputed champion.
It only took three more wins for Poirier to once again fight for the title, though, two of which came against McGregor. At UFC 269, Poirier fought Charles Oliveira for the lightweight title, but he lost in the same fashion (rear-naked choke) that he did the last time he fought for the undisputed belt.
Poirier beat Michael Chandler before suffering another heartbreak loss, this time to Justin Gaethje in their revenge bout at UFC 291. The loss was devastating for Poirier’s title hopes and made many assume that his career was coming to a close. Poirier made up for the loss as an underdog victory against the up-and-coming Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 299, though, and he went right back into the title picture.
Gaethje then lost at UFC 3o0, which afforded Poirier the chance to fight for the belt once again. He will receive that opportunity at UFC 302 against Islam Makhachev, Nurmagomedov’s friend and mentee. This will likely be the last time Poirier fights for the belt and perhaps even the last time he fights overall.
He has struggled against the best grapplers/wrestlers in the past, but it only takes one punch for something crazy to happen in the UFC. Luckily, Poirier is one of the best boxers in MMA history, so you can’t count him out against the number-one ranked pound-for-pound fighter.
Poirier will certainly receive a nice purse against Makhachev, but his MMA career is coming to a close sooner than later. That means his wealth will be reliant on his business ventures in the near future. With that said, were you surprised by Dustin Poirier’s net worth in 2024?
