Mark Coleman will attend UFC 300 following his recent hospitalization with smoke inhalation.

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion was admitted to hospital after rescuing his parents from a house fire on March 12 near Toledo, Ohio. Once he rescued his parents, Coleman returned to save his dog, Hammer. The dog unfortunately passed away as Coleman was taken to hospital. Coleman fully recovered, announcing his decision to attend UFC 300 on April 13 in Las Vegas.

Max Holloway will welcome Coleman’s presence. Holloway faces Justin Gaethje, the current BMF champion, on the card. The UFC has a history of allowing big-name athletes to present the BMF champion with their belt. Dwayne Johnson, or The Rock, presented the belt to Jorge Masvidal after he beat Nate Diaz at UFC 244 in 2019. Masvidal did the same when Gaethje knocked out Dustin Poirier at UFC 291 last year. Holloway has called on Coleman to present the belt at UFC 300.

Coleman’s Appearance

“The only correct answer is Mark Coleman. Especially with what he went through recently with his dog and his dog waking him to go save his stuff and he goes in there and runs for his dog? The guy’s a G. That’s a real life BMF. That would be sick if he did it. It would be an honor to get him to do it,” Holloway said

Elsewhere, Cris Cyborg will box Widnelly Figueroa on April 27. According to reports, the bout will take place at The Watering Hole in Green Bay, Wis. Cyborg arrives into the fight with a 3-0 record. Her last bout was a first-round knockout win against Elsey Wickstrum in January. Before that, she recorded wins over Simone da Silva and Gabrielle Holloway.

Figueroa has yet to win a boxing match, losing her only two fights. The last time she entered the ring was in 2017. That is when she was knocked out by Mikaela Mayer in 2017. The fight will take place at junior middleweight, with two four-minute rounds. The boxers have agreed to wear ten-ounce gloves for this contest.

Cyborg’s Fight

If Cyborg wins, it will increase her chances of a title shot against the number-one-ranked junior middleweight Cecilia Braekhus. As for Cyborg’s MMA career, she has not fought since beating Cat Zingano at Bellator 300, her fifth successful title defense. Following the PFL’s acquisition of Bellator, her next fight remains unclear. While she has been linked with a bout against Larissa Pacheco, nothing has been announced.

“I was hopeful to be fighting (Larissa) Pachecho in June, which gave me limited dates to pursue a Boxing fight. Figueroa is a tough opponent who has been in the ring with Boxing Olympians with a lot more experience than me. I have been training hard and am hoping to continue showing the improvements I am making in my Boxing skills.

“I want to prove to the people in Boxing that my KO power in MMA can translate into KO power with the bigger gloves. I’m working on my boxing techniques so that I am going to be able to deliver the type of fight-ending finishes fans want to see. I’m looking to bring excitement to Women’s Boxing like I’ve done in WMMA,” Cyborg said
