Umar Nurmagomedov was scheduled to headline UFC Nashville, but that plan has been derailed.

It was going to be Nurmagomedov taking on Cory Sandhagen inside the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee on August 5. The Schmozone was the first to report that a search for Sandhagen's new opponent was underway. At the time, there were no details on Nurmagomedov's removal, but now we know a bit more.

As it turns out, Umar Nurmagomedov suffered a shoulder injury during preparation for the bout. In fact, Nurmagomedov even took to his Instagram account to share footage of the exact moment he suffered the injury.

Here's what Nurmagomedov said in the caption of the post (translation via DeepL):

"Things happen and injuries are just part of the sporting life," Nurmagomedov said. "Praise Allah in every position. Of course I'm upset, but I'm not complaining. My ambitions and goals are the same. I'm gonna fix my shoulder and come back stronger. InshaAllah."

This would've been a huge opportunity for Nurmagomedov to get closer than ever to a UFC title shot. He'll have to wait another day, but judging by his social media post, it appears Nurmagomedov is in good spirits.
