Hendrick Motorsports has always been the team of champions and serial race winners. Over the years they have fielded cars for racing royalties such as Jeff Gordan and Jimmie Johnson. Right now, the have one of the strongest line-ups that features ex-Cup champions Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott alongside stars such as Alex Bowman and Willaim Byron.
Willaim Byron and Kyle Larson are the most consistent performers at HMS and the Cup garage. Over the last few seasons, there have been discussion about who is the best among the two and this discussion often meets dead ends as both have similar records is most metrics in the last two seasons. Now former Cup champion Kevin Harvick via his podcast has given his perspective on intra-team rivalry and diffrence between the two.
Kyle Larson, naturally gifted, will win in anything fast. William Byron, works hard, fast, again can win in anything in stock car racing for sure at the highest level...And I think, that’s still some of Kyle Larson’s weakness...Racing too hard, spinning himself out, running into the wall, whatever it may be. And he costs himself more opportunities to win. And I think, William has been the opposite...I guess that’s my biggest point here, because they’re both great. They’re just different. Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour podcast.
Hendrick Motorsports has won half of the races held this season in the pinnacle. Moreover, their success has been strongly driven by William Byron, who became the first repeat winner of 2024 at COTA, and Kyle Larson who became victorious in Las Vegas. The team has a lot of races left to win in the remainder of the 2024 season.
William Byron has huge expectations from the upcoming races
Byron won the opening round of the season and set a precedent for the following races in the next few weeks. Subsequently, the HM driver won the race in COTA and looks to have momentum on his side for the races in Richmond and Martinville.
However, the race winner last weekend thinks otherwise about his chances at the next few tracks. He reckons that short tracks are his weakness and has not performed well around such layouts as in Bristol two weeks ago, where he finished an underwhelming 35th.
I feel like it kind of ebbs and flows. We’re on a good flow right now in some ways (like) in the win category. I’d like to finish better on the off days, too. I’m working on that every week. I’m still trying to look at those days and how I can improve, like last week (at Bristol). But I feel like the ups are up right now. We just got to keep it going.

Despite his subpar track record at such circuits, the 26-year-old would like to go with the flow as he mentioned. Moreover, he would like to knab a place in the top spots to continue his dominant form in the upcoming races.
