Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green John Hefti-USA TODAY Sports

Allen Iverson is one of the most beloved NBA players of all time. Although he never won a championship, he came a lot closer to doing so than anyone ever imagined he would.

In the years since his retirement, Iverson has emerged as a valuable analyst on all things hoops.

Not only is his opinion listened to, it is revered.

Which made his recent comments about Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green all the more intriguing.

During a recent episode of his podcast, Iverson offered his honest thoughts on Green as a player.

“Draymond is the teammate that I dream about,” Iverson said.

“He’s that teammate. He’s the nuts and bolts guy. He’s going to do it all, you know what I mean? Not a selfish bone in his body. I love Draymond. I would love to have had an opportunity to play with him.”

Iverson tends to keep it pretty real. Whether he is breaking down his five best players of all time, delivering a brutal message to the Philadelphia 76ers or settling the highly-contested Michael Jordan vs LeBron James greatest of all time debate once and for all – he calls it how he sees it.

In that respect, if he is saying these nice things about Green, you know he means it.

It is also hard to ignore that one of the greatest and most accomplished players of all time recently revealed that Iverson was his favorite player to watch growing up.

You know he would have loved to hear Iverson say about him what he said about Green.

Iverson’s place in hoops lore is etched in stone. His legacy is beyond reproach.

Green still has some time before he achieves that level of individual respect from the larger basketball-watching population, but he is certainly on his way.
