Anthony Davis: Undisclosed wrist injury affected 'my shot and everything'

No stranger to injuries, Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis was limited to just 40 games last season, managing knee and ankle ailments.

On Wednesday, Davis revealed a previously undisclosed injury, which he says contributed to his shooting woes in 2021-22.

"A lot of people don't know this, but since January I was battling a wrist injury the whole year," Davis told ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "So it was affecting my shot and everything. That's not an excuse but it was tough for me to shoot how I wanted to shoot. I couldn't really follow through."

Davis finished around his career averages in most categories last season, posting 23.2 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.3 blocks. However, Davis' outside shot took a noticeable hit.

While Davis' field goal percentage rose to its highest average since the 2017-18 season, his volume and accuracy from three-point range nosedived.

Davis' 3-point attempts dipped from 2.8 in 2020-21 to 1.8 last season, while his 3-point percentage dropped from .260 to .186.

The ten-year veteran claims he's "100% healthy" now.

"I feel great," Davis said. "You can ask guys around here, I'm really shooting the ball. So, I'll be ready. Wherever coach puts me on the floor, midrange, post, perimeter, if I've got a shot, I'm going to shoot it."
