Vit Krejci is coming off a season where he played in 29 games for the Atlanta Hawks and averaged 1.2 points per contest while shooting 40.5% from the field and 23.8% from the three-point range.

On Wednesday, the Hawks announced that they had waived the 23-year-old.

Via The Hawks : "ATLANTA – The Atlanta Hawks have requested waivers on forward Vít Krejčí, the team announced today."

Krejci was initially the 37th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards.

He spent his rookie season with the Oklahoma City Thunder and averaged 6.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest while shooting 40.7% from the field and 32.7% from the three-point range in 30 games.

Since Krejci is still so young, he could be an excellent pickup for a young team looking to develop talent.

Last year, he also played three games in the G League (with the College Park Skyhawks) and averaged 9.0 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest while shooting 40.0% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point range.

ESPN's Bobby Marks added more details on the roster move.

Via Marks: "Atlanta announced that they have waived Vit Krejci.

The guard had a $1.8M non-guaranteed contract.

15 guaranteed contracts

2 Two Way contracts

$9.7M below the tax

The Hawks still have the $12.4M non-tax midlevel and $4.5M biannual exception."

As for the Hawks, they are coming off a year where they were the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference and lost to the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
