Ben Simmons trade negotiations are making 'no movement'?

Ben Simmons hasn't played a game with the Philadelphia 76ers since the team was eliminated in the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals and it doesn't look like he'll ever play another game in a 76ers uniform. But it also doesn't seem like a trade is anywhere close to happening soon either.

"There is no movement," ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski said Tuesday of Simmons' trade market. "Listen, we may be in this situation all the way until the NBA Draft."

The 2022 NBA Draft is scheduled for Thursday, July 29, meaning there's a real possibility Simmons will wind up watching the entire 2021-22 season from home.

Simmons, 25, was the top pick in the 2016 NBA Draft and earned All-Star nods in each of the last three seasons. However, he struggled badly in the 2021 postseason and was publicly criticized by 76ers coach Doc Rivers who said he didn't know if Simmons could lead a championship team, and also by teammate Joel Embiid, who said a poor decision by Simmons was the turning point in their elimination loss.

A couple months later, Simmons asked to be traded from the team. While a return to the team appeared close to happening in October, it eventually fell apart and resulted in more friction between Simmons and the 76ers.
